As we approach the upcoming presidential election next November, the most important question the American voter faces is whether our country can survive four more years of Joe Biden and his corrupt and incompetent leadership? Unfortunately, the accelerating decline of the United States during Biden’s administration continues. (This article will refer only to the Biden administration, rather than Biden-Harris as the Vice President neither makes nor decides government policy, despite spinners who seek to advance the prestige and authority of the V.P.).
Wherever we look, Biden and Co. have failed miserably. Their failure impacts on every American and his/her family. Every time you need to fill up at the gas station, every time you go to the supermarket to buy food, every time parents need to buy clothes for growing babies and children, the hidden regressive tax of inflation rears its ugly head and bites hard. Yet Joe Biden and his surrogates deny inflation is a problem. If you believe that there is no inflation, Joe and Co. have a bridge to sell.
Joe promises to raise taxes on the “rich” and he declared in his State of the Union address earlier this year that the rich must pay their “fair share”. Socialist Bernie Sanders has been raving about that for years. Now, our capitalist president has found a new slogan he likes. Yet what is a fair share? Judge Learned Hand said that every taxpayer has no obligation to pay more than the law requires and that everyone has the ability, if not the personal responsibility, to arrange their affairs to pay the least amount required under the law. Does Joe and his family pay their fair share? How many of the readers of this article’s children earn $2 million/year for no effort and then skip paying taxes? Joe is the last guy to preach about paying one’s fair share. If he thinks people are evading taxes, then charge them with income tax evasion. Otherwise, just shut up. Incidentally, Socialist Sanders has his own explaining about the capitalistic misdeeds of his former college president wife’s activities.
Under Joe, inflation has become a serious domestic problem. Meanwhile, the Federal budget is out of control as deficits set new records daily. The national debt is now approximately $34 Trillion and growing by the minute. Debt service (interest) is now the largest expenditure in the budget and will continue to expand. The Federal Open Market Committee has raised interest rates in an attempt to bring inflation under control. This further exacerbates the deficit as the interest rate on government bonds has risen. Economists of all stripes are concerned about this but no one dares talk about the government living within its means and balancing the budget. That is off the table as we continue on the road to economic self-destruction. Guess who is our nation’s largest creditor: China (PRC).
The future of the American economy remains precarious. Dependence on foreign supply chains, particularly from the PRC, puts many industries in danger. United States Steel (USS), the archetypical American heavy industrial corporation has already obtained stockholder approval for its sale to Nippon Steel. The Biden administration has opposed this sale, but whether this opposition will amount to anything remains to be seen. It is already too late to salvage the steel industry. Pharmaceuticals are in short supply due to dependence on foreign manufacturers, solar panels are imported, and the future of the electric car industry is in question. The dependence on a service economy does not create an economy strong enough to establish and maintain our global leadership.
Law and order in our cities has become a nightmare. The left wing of the Democratic Party agitates for defunding police, releasing people charged with crimes without bail as crime waves overtake great American cities. Theft is no longer a crime in progressive dominated cities and more and more merchants have abandoned center cities, making them into ghost towns and creating terrible hardships for consumers who lose the ability to shop close to home. Yet there is no end in sight to this destruction that continues. Car theft in the nation’s capital is a daily occurrence, Arrested perpetrators are released and politely asked if they wouldn’t mind showing up on a projected court hearing date sometime in the future, if that wouldn’t be inconvenient.
The immigration system in the United States under Joe Biden is an out of control scandal. The “migrants” or as they used to be called before political correctness became the order of the day, illegal aliens are in charge. The cost to major cities runs to the billions. There are untold numbers who have been deported numerous times for criminal misdeeds and they just return with impunity. The President refuses to discuss the issue. What motivated him to open the border to millions of people from all over the world remains a mystery. Just what is going on here? Is anyone in charge? Will any cities or states go bankrupt as they face financial burdens no one ever dreamt of? What happens when taxpayers finally revolt, say enough is enough and vote out the scoundrels who are destroying their towns and cities?
College campuses are in a state of rebellion as professional agitators mislead and manipulate naive teenage college students into occupying campuses and spewing revolutionary and anti-
Jewish slogans, all in the name of protected free speech. Where is the President and the Attorney General who are charged with at least being a force for morality in the public square? Joe is in the middle of a desperate re-election campaign which most polls show him losing in November. He’s playing the demagogue game, running to Dearborn, Michigan to seek the votes of Muslim Americans while he forgives billions in Federal student loans to get (buy) more votes. Does he have the constitutional authority to do such acts? Have executive orders replaced the Congress in deciding what the law is? Domestically, chaos reigns supreme as Joe benignly smiles, showing his beautiful white teeth.
Internationally, the United States is in a position of terminal decline. It has spent billions to defend Ukraine against horrendous attacks by Russia, aided by PRC, North Korea and Iran. Joe still dreams of resurrecting the ‘treaty” with Iran which his idol Barack Obama “negotiated” along with the EU, Russia and China which led to the easing of sanctions on the Islamo-Fascist regime in Tehran. Today, Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, non-state players supported by Iran wreak havoc in the Middle East while the Secretary of State goes ally shopping as he racks up frequent flier miles. The tragedy is no one knows how many countries have treaties with the US obligating us to defend them. Pentagon war games in the South China Sea against the PRC show America on the losing end of a war in that region as we cope with a supply line six thousand miles long against China’s hundred-mile line.
This article doesn’t have all the answers and asks a lot of questions. Question number one was whether America can afford four more years of Biden. The answer is a resounding NO! On election day in November, the voters will have an opportunity to send Joe Biden home to a well-deserved retirement in Delaware. Here’s hoping the voters don’t waste this opportunity.
